For project companies and their lenders’ advisers

Project companies (SPVs) and owners. Lenders that apply IFC Performance Standards expect a project’s environmental and social documents to be disclosed publicly. Lenders’ own documents often name the developer website as the place to find them.

Lenders’ environmental and social advisers use the web app to check that the project’s disclosure meets the lender’s requirements.

Frequently asked questions

What is a project disclosure web app?

It is the developer web app where a project publishes its ESIA, non-technical summary, stakeholder engagement plan and grievance mechanism, so that anyone affected by the project can read them.

Does the web app need to be in Arabic?

IFC Performance Standards ask for disclosure in a language that affected communities understand. In Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, that usually means Arabic, with English for the lenders. We build every page in both languages.

How long must the documents stay online?

Lenders usually expect them to stay available for the life of the project. Some lenders also set a minimum disclosure period before they decide on financing, such as 60 days for an ESIA. Check the periods with your lenders.

Do you handle the grievances people submit?

The project company receives and handles grievances. The web app explains how to raise one and gives the project’s contact channels.

Which standards do you align the web app with?

IFC Performance Standards. Our web app for Shokeir Wind Energy is aligned to them. If your lenders also apply their own requirements, such as those of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), send them with your inquiry.
