For EPC contractors before Taking-Over, and owners after it

EPC contractors buy plant communications as part of the substation and buildings scope. The systems have to be installed, tested and documented before the owner takes over the plant. On Suez Wind Energy, we are delivering IP telephony and video conferencing for PowerChina at the north and south substations.

Owners take over the systems at handover and run them for the life of the plant. They also contract us directly for their buildings and sites. ENGIE did so for the relocation of its Egypt headquarters and for outdoor wireless on the ENGIE Solar plant at Nadec City in Saudi Arabia.

What we install

  • IP telephony (IP-PBX)

One IP-PBX serving more than one substation; desk IP phones; PBX licensing and configuration; integration with the core network

    • Suez Wind Energy, north and south substations, in delivery
  • DECT

Multi-cell DECT coverage with base stations, repeaters and handsets

    • Suez Wind Energy, in delivery
  • Video conferencing and audio-visual (AV)

Meeting spaces with video collaboration boards, a large-format unit for the common area and a dedicated AV meeting room

    • Suez Wind Energy, in delivery
    • corporate AV at ENGIE Egypt’s headquarters, 2026
  • Mobile coverage

2G, 3G and 4G LTE coverage for 1,000 concurrent users, licensed by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), with solar-diesel hybrid power and microwave backhaul

    • Suez Wind Energy, Ras Ghareb (north) site, 2025–2026
  • Outdoor wireless and OT/IoT connectivity

Radio planning for the panel-array layout, ruggedized outdoor access points and the connectivity layer for operational technology (OT) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as automated cleaning robots

    • ENGIE Solar, Nadec City, Saudi Arabia, 30 MW, 2021–2022
  • Core network and wireless

Core switches, wireless controllers and access points for the substation and plant buildings

    • Active network at ENGIE Egypt’s headquarters, 2026
  • Backhaul connectivity

Microwave backhaul and links from licensed telecom operators

    • Suez Wind Energy
    • construction-site links on five wind farms in Egypt
  • Structured cabling

Cabling for plant and office buildings

    • ENGIE Egypt headquarters, 2026

Ready for Taking-Over, then run for the owner

Before Taking-Over, we commission the systems with the EPC contractor so the owner’s team takes over equipment that works.

After Taking-Over, the owner can contract us to run the systems under a service level agreement (SLA). We have run the network at Red Sea Wind Energy’s 220 kV substation under SLA since 2021.

Frequently asked questions

How is Plant Communications different from Site Mobilization?

Site Mobilization connects the temporary site facilities (TSF) used during construction. Plant Communications is the permanent equipment at the substation and plant buildings, handed over to the owner at Taking-Over.

Can you provide mobile coverage at a remote site?

Yes. At Suez Wind Energy’s Ras Ghareb (north) site, we deployed NTRA-licensed 2G, 3G and 4G LTE coverage for 1,000 concurrent users. We powered it with a solar-diesel hybrid system and connected it through microwave backhaul.

Can you work to the EPC contractor’s specification?

Yes. PowerChina contracted us for turnkey delivery on three wind farms, and we delivered to its specification.

Who runs the systems after Taking-Over?

The owner’s team, or us under a service level agreement. We run the network at Red Sea Wind Energy’s 220 kV substation under SLA.

Do you support the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system?

We provide the ICT services the SCADA system depends on: networks, connectivity, access and IT support.
