ICT advisory for plant owners

When an owner contracts us directly, we also advise on the plant’s ICT. We oversee the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor’s ICT scope and fill its gaps.

For owners, as part of a direct contract

Owners use our advisory work to check the EPC contractor’s ICT designs and works against their own requirements and their group’s technology standards. We take it on as ad hoc work, alongside a direct contract with us, whenever the project needs oversight or a gap filled.

On the owner’s side, this is close to the role some projects call an ICT owner’s engineer. It means reviewing the EPC contractor’s ICT submissions and following the works through construction, as we did for Ras Ghareb Wind Energy from 2017 to 2018.

We also deliver ICT for EPC contractors, including PowerChina on three wind farms.

What we do for owners

  • Oversight of the EPC contractor’s ICT

Review of the EPC contractor’s ICT designs and submissions, and oversight of the ICT works through construction

    • Ras Ghareb Wind Energy, 2017–2018
  • EPC submittal reviews

Review of the EPC contractor’s IT submittals, on request

    • Shokeir Wind Energy, in delivery
  • Filling gaps in the EPC scope

ICT items the EPC contract leaves out, taken on for the owner as the project needs them

    • On owner contracts, as needed
  • Group technology standards

Compliance with the owner’s group requirements, such as ENGIE Group Technology Unification

    • Ras Ghareb Wind Energy
    • Shokeir Wind Energy
  • Technology and cybersecurity audits

Regular audits of plant IT and security controls, with reporting

    • Red Sea Wind Energy
    • Ras Ghareb Wind Energy
  • Network and radio-frequency (RF) design

Radio planning to suit the site layout, such as access point placement for the geometry of a solar panel array

    • ENGIE Solar, Nadec City, Saudi Arabia, 2021–2022
  • Site surveys and infrastructure planning

Survey of the site or building, and planning of the infrastructure before design

    • ENGIE Egypt headquarters relocation, 2026

Oversight from a team that builds and operates

We have delivered construction-phase ICT on five Egyptian wind farms and have run plant IT for owners since 2018. Our oversight draws on that work. We know the approvals a microwave link needs and how to keep each party’s network on site apart. We also know which documents an operations team needs on the day it takes over.

Frequently asked questions

How is advisory work contracted?

As ad hoc work, alongside a direct contract with the owner. We take it on whenever the project needs oversight of the EPC contractor’s ICT, or a gap in the EPC scope filled.

What does an ICT owner’s engineer do?

On the owner’s behalf, the ICT owner’s engineer reviews the EPC contractor’s ICT designs and submissions, and follows the ICT works through construction. We did this for Ras Ghareb Wind Energy from 2017 to 2018.

Do you also work for EPC contractors?

Yes. We deliver site connectivity and plant communications for EPC contractors, including PowerChina on three wind farms. Our advisory work is for owners who contract us directly.

Can you audit our plant against our group’s IT standards?

Yes. On Ras Ghareb Wind Energy and Shokeir Wind Energy we work to ENGIE’s Group Technology Unification requirements.

Do you plan radio coverage for solar plants?

Yes. On the ENGIE Solar plant at Nadec City in Saudi Arabia, we planned radio coverage around the geometry of the panel arrays. We then installed ruggedized outdoor access points for the cleaning robots.
